Memoir #1
Visual Composition
The background photograph does not fit with the theme of the six word memoir. It is not clear why a couch on the side of the road and a passing taxi would reflect a relaxed American style of living.
The background image is also too busy to allow the reader to reflect on the actually memoir itself. This takes the reader’s attention away from the memoir and distracts from the overall appeal.
The way that relaxed is so separated from the first five words makes the reader emphasize them, which is good but the couch distracts the reader in between.

Typeface
The typeface is sans serif which adds to a relaxed, informal feel.
The font is a generic, standard font which does not convey much deeper meaning and is kind of boring.
The color of the font is difficult to read, especially in the first five words.
The kerning between the letters is pretty small and the font feels somewhat cramped.
The spacing the first five words and the word “relaxed” disjoints the memoir as a whole because of the spacing.
