This poem was one of the first things I wrote in creative writing this year. I made many revisions along the way and learned the value of doing so. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Sundurn
Enthralled by sticky sea breeze
A salty invitation to lose track of time
Flocks of birds and people pepper the sand
Treasured, golden sunshine beams brighter
Responsibilities fade

Waves beckon with sparkling allure
Rushing closer, a hushed roar
Delivering new conch shells, reclaiming old ones
This blissful melody endlessly repeating
A sweet aftertaste on the sand

Sun meanders through a cloudless sky
Pouring life from a bright blue backdrop
Slowly shifting position
Casting new shadows
Sunset deposits a fiery ball on the horizon

The only red brighter
Brighter than the sun’s last crimson hues
Flushes contented faces
Carefree
